Field Hockey
The BH PAL offers field hockey for girls in the fall.
The primary goals of the program are learning the game and fundamental skills, player development -- and most importantly -- fun with friends.

Fall Travel Teams: Grades 5-8

Fall Travel Team Practices
Practices are held twice a week, We understand that our players may have other competing activities and we ask that participants make at least one practice a week in order to be ready for game play.
The teams are run by parent coaches, with assistance once a week from local field hockey club trainers.
Fall Travel Team Games
Games are held on Sundays.
Officials explain calls on the field during the game and spend time reviewing the rules with parents on the sidelines at halftime.
Our PAL field hockey travel teams participate in the Mid Jersey Youth Field Hockey Association, with surrounding towns such as Chatham, Madison, Basking Ridge, and Scotch Plains:
Clinics
Coaches work with GL coaches and high school players to create clinic programs to introduce the sport to PAL players. The PAL will also work with local field hockey trainers to focus on beginner drills/skills, proper form, and rules of the game.
Clinics offered:
- a one-day Spring clinic prior to Fall registration
- 2nd-4th grade clinic for younger players in the Fall
Equipment
Sticks are available to borrow for clinics to try the sport before making the commitment.
Players should have their own:
- shin guards
- eye mask
- mouth guard

Spring 2024 Clinic
The Berkeley Heights PAL is excited to announce its Spring Field Hockey Clinic, open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside children in grades 1 through 8.
This clinic, run by the Governor Livingston High School varsity field hockey coaches, will get kids familiar with the sport through fun drills and games.
When: Sunday, May 19th
Where: Governor Livingston Turf Field
Who: 1st – 8th graders
Time: 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Fall 2024 Clinic
Friday Jr Clinic (2nd-4th Grade)
The Junior Highlanders Field Hockey clinics, open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside kids in grades 2-4, will be part of an instructional field hockey program, with a strong focus on skill development, all-player participation and fun. All ability levels are welcome, as well as kids who may participate in other Fall sports and dance.
The program will run from early September until early November, and will feature weekly 1 hour practices that include drills, games and fun for all. If you have an experienced 4th grader interested in playing for the 5/6 travel team, please contact kwessel@bhpal.org prior to registration.
When/where: Fridays 4-5pm at Snyder

RegisterJunior Highlanders Travel
The PAL Junior Highlanders Travel Field Hockey teams will be part of an instructional field hockey program, with a strong focus on skill development, all-player participation and fun. All ability levels are welcome, as well as girls who may participate in other Fall sports and dance. Since the sport is new to most, we plan to bring in outside resources to teach skills and drills during some of our practices.
The program is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside girls in grades 5-8* and season will run from early September until mid-November.
*any experienced 4th grade girls interested in playing on travel team should contact kwessel@bhpal.org.
When: Sunday games with 2 practices each week
Where: Practices @ Snyder Mon/Wed 6:30-8pm
Who: 5th/6th team and 7th/8th team
Cost: $200
Uniforms will be ordered separately, which will include a shirt, shorts, and home/away socks. Information will be provided after registration.
